Summary

Dwight’s NSPE Activities

Dwight joined the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)  in 1998 and
has proven himself to be one of the most active and productive engineers in the
history of the organization.  Dwight, a member via the
Maryland Society of
Professional Engineers (MDSPE), has been active at the local, state, and national
levels.  At the local level, he has served on the Board of Directors and is currently
the Potomac Chapter President.  At the state level, he has served as the Chair for the
Professional Engineers in Government Practice Division.  Nationally, Dwight has
served on a number of committees including the Leadership Development Task
Force, the Young Engineers Advisory Committee, and the Diversity Task Force.

In addition to holding such a wide variety of offices, Dwight has been active in many
other ways that have benefited NSPE.  First, after winning Young Engineer for the
state of Maryland in 2003, he met with numerous state governmental leaders so that
they would be aware of the good work of NSPE.  These leaders included all three
21st District Maryland State Senators, the Prince Georges County Maryland
County Council, the Prince Georges County Maryland County Executive, and U.S.
Congressman Albert Wynn (District 4, Maryland).  Beyond these activities, Dwight
has coordinated and participated in several activities to promote NSPE, MDSPE,
and the Potomac Chapter to the public through television and print media.

Dwight’s Other Affiliations

Dwight also maintains numerous affiliations besides NSPE -- many of which are
with academic organizations.  He is a program evaluator for the
Accreditation Board
for Engineering and Technology (ABET).  Through ABET Dwight travels the
country accrediting undergraduate nuclear engineering programs.  Dwight heartily
supports the
Southern Regional Education Board Doctoral Scholars Program, as
well.  He became affiliated with the Doctoral Scholars Program as a Ph.D. candidate
and has remained active ever since.  Dwight is also a member of the
American
Society for Engineering Education.

Beyond Dwight’s academic activities, he is dedicated to promoting professional
engineering (P.E.) licensure.  He works closely with the
National Council of
Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) as a speaker to educate
undergraduate students about the P.E. licensure process.  He also serves as a co-
author of the national P.E. licensure exam.
